Adagio Belbrook Oso Deep Purple

Date diagnozed cancer: 01-08-2023 (exploratory surgery by vet when other causes ruled out)

Diagnoze method: observation during exploratory surgery, confirmed by biopsy taken during surgery before having her PTS

Medication used: No cancer treatments - too advanced; tried various treatments attempting to mitigate symptoms and help with diagnosis prior to running out of non-surgical options

Notes: She stopped eating around July 11, 2023, some vomiting of bile at night. By July 21st, she had dropped from 46 to 39 lbs and was vomiting more frequently despite not eating. Bloodwork was normal, and no fever. No blockages were visible on X-ray or ultrasound, although there appeared to be no motility in intestinal region. Tried Cerenia and EnTyce appetite stimulant over the weekend - no change. On Monday July 24th, admitted her and kept her 2 nights at vet for abdominal studies, IV fluids, Metronidazole, Metoclopramide, etc. Did a barium swallow - showed nothing except low motility. Basically, it acted like a blockage but none could be seen. Vet thought she felt a little better and might eat at home (didn't happen). By July 31st, she was down to 36 lbs and vomiting frequently. Desperate last measure was exploratory surgery in case there was a real blockage (and vet did not have equipment to get a biopsy with his endoscope if not). Surgery showed 2/3s of the stomach was cancerous - concentrated at lower curvature, but also in other parts of stomach, with possible metastases on spleen and pancreas. Inoperable, so we collected the biopsy and let her go. Biopsy confirmed the preliminary diagnosis.
